Our highly skilled team is led by Principal Dentist Dr Kevin Silver, who has over 35 years experience in dentistry. He has extensive knowledge in replacing missing teeth and has expertly fitted dentures for many patients.
Dentures are a removable set of artificial teeth designed to sit on top of the gums and provide an excellent option for those with missing teeth. They are generally the most economical tooth replacement choice compared to other treatments (such as dental implants).
Modern dentures have come a long way in terms of both looks and comfort. Not only will they enhance the appearance of your smile, they can also help bring back the natural functioning of your mouth.
We provide both full dentures (a whole arch of teeth) and partial dentures (for a smaller amount of missing teeth). These are designed to remain in position within the mouth, though they can also be secured by dental implants for added stability.
Missing teeth can often impact more than your smile and ability to eat and talk. Facial muscle sagging can also occur as a result, creating a prematurely aged look.
Dentures are an effective way to combat tooth loss, as are dental implants and bridges. All of these options will improve the look of your smile, help your mouth to resume natural function and prevent loss of shape to the face.
It may initially take a bit of getting used to, but with practice, you’ll soon be able to enjoy your meals while wearing dentures just as you would without.
We suggest beginning by consuming mostly soft foods, taking your time while eating and reducing mouthfuls to smaller sizes that demand less jaw movement.
With a bit of caution, you should eventually be able to relish your favourite foods as normal. It is important to be mindful though when eating anything particularly tough or chewy.
It is still vital that you practice good oral hygiene even when wearing full dentures.
In addition to correctly cleaning your dentures, it is essential for good oral health to brush your gums, tongue, and palate twice daily. A soft-bristled toothbrush is recommended for these areas in order to keep them healthy.
Your dentist may initially advise you to wear your dentures for prolonged periods, including during sleep.
Once you have adjusted to them though, the recommendation will typically be to remove them at night. Doing this can be beneficial for your gums and allow proper oral hygiene to be maintained.
