Dr Cosimo Loperfido is Senior Clinical Teacher in Periodontology at Guy’s Hospital, King’s College London, and a registered specialist in periodontics. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of gum-related issues and studied, worked, and taught in four different countries.
Dr Loperfido received his dental degree summa cum laude from the University of Bari (Italy) in 1997 and completed a post-graduate course in oral surgery at the same university. Upon graduation, he joined the Italian Navy as a dental officer.
In 2001, he moved to the Netherlands, where he completed a 3-year, post-graduate periodontal training accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and worked concurrently as a researcher in the Department of Bio-Materials at the University of Nijmegen, where he obtained his Diploma and Master of Science (MSc.) in Periodontology in 2004.
In 2009, he moved to California to further his training at Loma Linda University, where he completed a six-month, full-time Externship in Implant Dentistry, followed by a 20-month, full-time Fellowship in Implant Dentistry.
Dr Loperfido is based in London, where he shares his time between teaching postgraduate students in periodontology at Guy’s Hospital and working in private dental clinics. He limits his practice to periodontology, dental implants, and cosmetic periodontal surgery.
Dr Loperfido is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and he is an active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP).
