Some people are genetically susceptible to periodontal disease (gum disease) it can lead to destruction of the supporting structures and bone around the teeth. Periodontal disease is the most significant cause of tooth loss and is increasingly being linked to being a risk factor in other diseases in the body.

Our periodontist Cosimo received his dental degree "Summa Cum Laude" from the University of Bari (Italy). He completed a three year program in Periodontology accredited by the European Federation in Periodontology at the University of Nijmegen (The Netherlands). During those years, he also worked as researcher in the Department of Biomaterials and Periodontology at the same university. Subsequently, he received 2.5 years of training at the Center of Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University (California USA).
